Andrew is the Head of Intellectual Property & Media for the UK. He specialises in intellectual property issues, brand protection, reputation management, media and music industry related work, advertising, marketing and sponsorship arrangements. He is described as “excellent” by the Legal 500 guide to legal practitioners in the UK.

Andrew regularly advises on all aspects of trade marks, copyright, design rights, passing off, media rights, advertising, media buying arrangements, anti-counterfeiting, online disputes, defamation and privacy.

Andrew supports clients though all stages of the creation, development and use of new brands and products, including IP portfolio management, clearing advertising, negotiating high profile sponsorship arrangements (including for the Olympics and the Tour De France) and the creation and licensing of merchandising. He has particular experience in dealing with social media issues, ASA challenges and comparative advertising.

Once launched, Andrew has many years’ experience in helping clients protect their brands and enforce their IP rights. He has extensive High Court experience, acting in high profile litigation for major clients, dealing with trade marks, passing off, copyright and designs.

Andrew has also acted for major artists in the music industry for many years. His work includes protecting music and media content, touring and recording agreements, and managing disputes relating to the music industry.

A notable aspect of Andrew’s expertise is that he also has many years of experience advising on defamation, privacy and reputation management issues. This is for a wide range of clients across many sectors, both by way of preventative action and involvement in post-publication disputes. He has obtained numerous privacy injunctions to protect clients and acted in major defamation disputes.
